Derrick Williams (Phoenix)
is an award-winning filmmaker and producer recognized for
his versatile, impactful storytelling across streaming
platforms and live event spaces. Known for his masterful
creativity and vision, Derrick recently directed the
documentary GREAT: The Metropolitan Story and has produced
acclaimed short films such as Ugly, Catch A Girl, and
Operation Freedom. His work has been featured on Amazon
Prime, HBO Max and BET+, earning multiple awards that
underscore his commitment to excellence.
Beyond film, Derrick event manages premier cultural events
around the world including the annual American Black Film
Festival (ABFF) and The National Battle Of The Bands
(NBOTB).
His diverse portfolio also includes music video production
for notable artists, further showcasing his creative range.
Originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, Derrick earned his
degree in Film, Media & Arts from Temple University and
is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He now
lives in Newark, New Jersey with his wife, Sydney Williams,
and their daughter, Nia Chase Williams.
Derrick continues to bring fresh, original visions to every
new project and is guided by the belief that “The idea is
